Appearance: Pegasus is the kind of man who stands out in a crowd - which is probably what he intends. He is quite tall, standing a few inches over six feet, with a slender, graceful build. He has long, straight, sleek hair in an eye-catching silver-lilac shade. It falls to about his collarbone in front, and is trimmed to contour around his shoulders and angles gradually to a point near the small of his back. He wears it a bit asymmetrically, so that it covers the left side of his face. The reason for this is that one of his eyes is missing, and the one who removed it didn't bother to be gentle about it - there's not much left where it used to be but a gruesomely scarred mess which he prefers not to let other people see unless it's for dramatic effect. Aside from the scarring, the rest of his face is fairly attractive - narrow, intelligent, and clean-shaven. His remaining eye is brown. Pegasus is inclined to wear rather formal, old-fashioned, slightly flamboyant clothing when he's in public (he's partial to the color red), but when he's in private working on one of his art projects, it's likely that he'll be wearing something drab, worn, and paint-splattered.

Personality: It doesn't take long to realize that there's something just a bit off about Pegasus. He affects a clownish personality, almost childish - he likes cartoons and comic books and silly jokes. He's prone to sarcasm and to doing ridiculous things just to throw people off balance. It's hard to tell just how much of his fooling around is because he's actually that crazy and how much of it is because he just doesn't want people to catch on to how smart he really is. He has a passionate nature - those people he cares about, he loves unconditionally and will go to any lengths for them; his sense of loyalty is unparalleled. However, he's not always entirely connected to the real world and may lack empathy for people who come under his radar, especially if there's something more exciting going on to occupy his attention. His morality is little bit skewed - while he's not an inherently bad man, it's true that he's more likely to judge people by whether he finds them interesting than whether they are good. Rules, in his world, are less of a boundary to what he can do and more a measure of how much trouble he'll be in if he gets caught. Even with people he doesn't particularly like, however, he does have a sense of honor, and once he gives his word, he will keep it even if he doesn't like it. He is a romantic at heart, though he hides it most of the time. He loves art and beautiful things.

Abilities: Most of Pegasus's abilities are of the mental variety. He is quite intelligent and has a broad set of interests and studies. He appears to be fluent in several languages, and is knowlegeable about any number of scientific, historic, and occult topics. Even though he can't do much in the way of magic himself anymore, he at least has a sound knowledge of the principles. He has a keen insight to the workings of people's minds (comes of being able to read minds for seven years!) and is good at manipulating people and playing both sides against the middle. He's also an excellent artist, for what that's worth.

Weaknesses: Physically, Pegasus isn't very tough. He's lived a generally sedentary lifestyle and could be easily overpowered in a hands-on fight. He's not all that mentally stable, sometimes, either. It would be easy to mess with his mind, playing on his guilt for some of his past misdeeds or his grief over his lost love. He lives in a dream world at times and largely prefers fantasy to reality, which leads him to overestimate his own abilities at times. He has a way of getting on a lot of people's nerves, whether he means to or not.

Notable Possessions: Pegasus doesn't handle weapons himself - he pays people to do it for him. He does, however, own a Duel Disk and a one-of-a-kind Toon World dueling deck.

History: Pegasus was born to a wealthy family somewhere in the American southwest. His father was the owner of several Las Vegas casinos and his lifestyle proved it - he liked to entertain lavishly, throwing elaborate parties for his wealthy friends and cohorts, often bringing little Pegasus along to see the fun. It was at one of these soirées that ten-year-old Pegasus met the girl who would change his life: Cyndia. The two of them were instantly drawn to each other and became fast friends almost at once - and as they grew older, they became lovers. Pegasus was devoted to Cyndia. His world revolved around her, and he was inspired to take up painting so that he could attempt to capture her beauty on canvas. His life's ambition was to become a famous painter and travel the world with Cyndia at his side. However, the dream was not to be. At the tender age of seventeen, Cyndia fell ill with a disease that was swift and fatal.

Pegasus was devastated. For months, he wandered around in a daze, unable to function. Gradually, a thought began to solidify in his mind: he had to find a way to get Cyndia back, or, failing that, at least ascertain that her soul still existed somewhere. He became fascinated with the Egyptian notions of the afterlife and reincarnation, and determined to travel to Egypt to study them more closely. That was how he found his way into the village of Kul Elna. As he explored the mysterious, nearly ruined village, a gust of wind carried his hat away, straight to the feet of a strange young man - an Egyptian boy with strange flat eyes the color of the desert sky. The Egyptian warned him away, telling him that there was nothing to be found in Kul Elna that would heal a broken heart. Pegasus was intrigued by this stranger who seemed to know all about him, and followed him in secret. The Egyptian led him to an underground chamber which housed a mysterious stone statue where a collection of golden items were laid. Pegasus hadn't been there very long before his presence was noticed, and he was dragged forward to recieve his punishment for the crime of trespassing. The mysterious Egyptian declared that Pegasus would be judged by the Millennium Eye - if he passed the test, his life would be spared, and he would be granted his heart's desire, but if he failed, the best he could hope for was insanity. Pegasus's left eye was crushed out and replaced with the Millennium Eye, leaving him in agonizing pain but otherwise sane and sound. As he recovered from the shock, he looked up to see a bright light, and from that light, his lost love emerged. Pegasus was barely able to take her into his arms before she vanished again, leaving him alone once more.

He wasn't going to stand for that. If he could see her once, he could do it again, and he hatched a plan to make that dream a reality. To do it, he would need to complete two objectives: to collect the rest of the seven Millennium Items, and to secure the solid-vision holographic technology recently developed by Kaiba Corporation. To do this, he was going to need fame, money, and power, far more than he had from his father's modest fortune. The solution to this problem was to develop a game - Monsters and Wizards, later reconceptualized as Duel Monsters - based on the ancient rituals used by the earliest carriers of the Millennium Items. By making clever use of the Millennium Eye's power to read minds, plus his own talent, he was able to turn a small gaming company into a worldwide phenomenon, making himself one of the richest and most influential men in the world. Soon it was time to make his big move. The young owner of Kaiba Corporation was defeated in a duel by Mutou Yugi, and had left his company to do a bit of soul searching. The impatient investors were eager to see the disgraced and absent Kaiba replaced by someone who would have a chance at saving the company's reputation, and Pegasus was eager to oblige them. They promised to make him the new owner of the company (and thus, the coveted technology) if Pegasus would prove himself by defeating Yugi in a duel.

That was how Yugi ended up with an invitation to Pegasus's cover for corporate takeover, otherwise known as Duelist Kingdom. Just to make sure Yugi cooperated, Pegasus stole the soul of Yugi's grandfather, promising he would return it only when Yugi had defeated him in the contest. Just to make sure Kaiba didn't come back and cause any problems, Pegasus also kidnapped Kaiba's younger brother Mokuba and sealed his soul in a card as well. Yugi and Kaiba both raced to make their way to Pegasus's castle to challenge him to game to reclaim their loved ones. Kaiba was unsuccessful in his attempt, falling prey to Pegasus's mind-reading powers, but Yugi and his other self were able to defeat him by means of their courage and teamwork. Pegasus acknowledged himself to be well and truly beaten and released the souls of the Kaiba brothers and Yugi's grandfather. After the duel, Pegasus retired to his rooms in defeat, only to be met by the thief Bakura, who was also collecting Millennium Items and wanted Pegasus's Eye for his collection. The two of them battled, but Pegasus was already weak from his intense duel and didn't have the strength to stand up to the stronger and more experienced thief. He was defeated, and Bakura tore the Eye out of his face, leaving him to live or die if he would.

As it turns out, he did live, though he did drop out of sight for a while as he recovered his strength. Freed from the malevolent influence of the Millennium Eye's shadow powers, he recovered some of his sanity and was finally able to move beyond his grief for Cyndia and start living a normal life... as normal as he would ever get, anyway. He threw himself into his research, particularly the history and occult aspects of dueling, which unfortunately led him to information he wasn't supposed to find out. He uncovered traces of an ancient organization called Doma, which had originated in Atlantis ten thousand years ago and had been influencing the course of history ever since. Doma had originally been a more or less benevolent force, but over time its leader had become disgusted with humanity and had determined he was going to wipe them all out and start over, something that didn't sit too well with Pegasus. He created three magical cards and hid them in a secret room in his company. He sent a distress signal to the one person he trusted to deal with the whole mess - namely, Yugi - but Pegasus himself was picked off by a duelist assassin from Doma and had his soul stolen to be sacrificed to the Leviathan. Fortunately, he left a holographic recording for Yugi to find, to let him know where the hidden cards were, so Yugi and his friends were able to find them and claim them. Later, Pegasus's soul was placed in the body of one of the Doma leader Dartz's monsters, where he was forced to fight against the Pharaoh - not a situation he enjoyed, but he was able to use that form to pass along crucial information to the Pharaoh regarding how to overcome Dartz once and for all. The Pharaoh was able to free Pegasus and the others who had been forced to become Mirror Knight monsters, and then topped that by unsealing the true forms of the cards Pegasus had given him and defeating Dartz in a duel. In a climactic battle, the Pharaoh and his friends were able to defeat the Leviathan and send Dartz off to the afterlife. All the captured souls were freed and went back to their normal lives.

Pegasus made up his mind to live quietly after that - to run his company, continue his research, and devote large portions of his fortune to funding the arts and sciences, and generally try to live a clean life... Yeah, right, like he can really resist temptation!
